From August 2016 to December 2016 SASH Bahamas launched a surveying exercise to begin the first ever mapping of the Bahamian LGBTQI community.
Please note that this report is merely the results of the survey. A full report, including a detailed discussion of the results, will be added at a later date.
In a bid to help those outside and within the LGBT community to understand the correct terminology to be used, please see below a glossary of the proper terms to refer LGBT community members by.
There is no reason to use colloquial derogatory words to refer to LGBT individuals. Simply by using the correct terminology you can make a difference and advocate implicitly for social acceptance.
